The Gujarat State Examination Board (SEB), Sector-21, Gandhinagar has issued the official notification for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Scheme 2025–26. This scholarship program is launched by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to support meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds and reduce dropout rates in secondary and higher secondary schools.

As per the guidelines issued through Government Circular No. F.No. 1-11/2024-SS dated 04/07/2025, the NMMS examination for the academic year 2025–26 will be conducted by SEB to select eligible students.

Students studying in Class 8 can apply for this scholarship and appear for the examination.

Important Dates

NMMS Scholarship 2025 : Amount & Payment Rules

Candidates selected as per the district-wise and category-wise merit list will receive:

• ₹1,000 per month
• ₹12,000 per year
• Tenure: 4 years

A total of 5,097 students will receive the scholarship from Gujarat.

The scholarship amount will be directly transferred to the student’s bank account through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Students must apply and renew their scholarship every year on NSP, and applications must be verified by the school and district nodal officer.

SEB only conducts the examination; it does not verify documents or process scholarship payments.

Eligibility for NMMS Exam : NMMS Scholarship 2025

Students must meet the following criteria:

• Studying in Class 8 during the current academic year.
• Studying in one of the following:
  • Government Primary School
  • Local Body School (District Panchayat/Municipality/Municipal Corporation)
  • Grant-in-Aid Primary School

Students fulfilling the above criteria can appear for the NMMS examination.
